How to Install CUCM 7.x Subscriber on VMWare Server with Images?
I thought I'll write about something I was trying to find a solution to for a while now.
I am sure a lot of you have been trying to find info on how to get Cisco's Unified Communications Manager or CUCM or Call Manager 7 installed on VM Server (the free edition).
I got it installed and running last night. Really don't know why I go around doing it especially on holidays.
Anyway to cut it short I got it running with the publisher and subscriber installed.
The problem was surrounding the NTP setting. VMWare Server image had problems synch'ing with the machine time.
So I got the sync going and all is well. In case you are wondering which version of VM I was using, its 1.o.8. I think the 1.0.9 came out recently. Mostly security fixes.
The following are some images of the installed Publisher and Subscriber.
I have not got a hold on the CUCM 7.1 yet. I'll try that on VMWare Server and see if it works.

OK, but you do not detail _HOW_ you got it working.
ReplyDeleteYou only say that you did get it working.
How about you describe what you did to get it working so that others can test your solution, validate it, and hence, benefit from it?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteSeveral ways to do it.
Easiest way is to get an NTP server running.
As I am doing this for lab environment, I set up an internal NTP server. I had used a Windows XP client machine with the Meinberg NTP Software.
Just do a google search. At the same site you can find a monitoring software for the NTP server. I set the NTP Server to local host with Stratum 1 (default was 12). Give it like 5 mins after starting the NTP server software before trying to synch with Publisher installation.
The subscriber installation just works because of the NTP server. And that's how I install all my CMs these days.
